IVF does not mean cultivating babies in IVF, but rather increasing pregnancy rates through IVF. In vitro fertilization (IVF), commonly referred to as in vitro fertilization embryo transfer technology, refers to the artificial method of fertilizing eggs and sperm in IVF for early embryonic development, and then transplanting them into the mother's uterus for development. Initially, British obstetrician Patrick Steptoe and physiologist Robert Edwards successfully studied, causing a sensation in the world scientific community. On July 25, 1978, the world's first IVF was born in the UK. So IVF still needs to conceive and have children on its own.

IVF is not truly a baby that grows up in a test tube. Instead, several eggs are taken from the ovaries and combined with male sperm in the laboratory to form an embryo, which is then transferred to the uterus for implantation into the female uterus and pregnancy. Normal pregnancy requires sperm and eggs to meet in the fallopian tube, combine to form a fertilized egg, and then return to the uterine cavity to continue pregnancy.

IVF can be simply understood as laboratory test tubes replacing the function of the fallopian tubes, and is called IVF. Although IVF was originally used to treat infertility caused by tubal obstruction, it has been found that IVF can contribute to infertility caused by endometriosis, abnormal sperm count or morphology, and even unexplained infertility. Research has shown that the pregnancy rate after one cycle of treatment is about 40%, and the birth rate is slightly lower.

Some people may believe that in vitro fertilization is not a natural combination, and it is difficult to ensure the health of the child after birth. In fact, although IVF combines sperm and eggs in IVF, the providers of sperm and eggs are still couples, so the quality of sperm and eggs has not changed. Even doctors choose high-quality seeds for IVF surgery, so the health status of IVF will not be affected.

About us(图2)

The intelligence of infants is mostly inherited from their parents, and partially depends on their acquired efforts. The genes carried by IVF still come from both parents, which is no different from ordinary babies. Will genes that affect intelligence change due to different methods of fertilization and pregnancy? The answer is clearly negative. From a scientific perspective, in vitro fertilization only changes the combination of sperm and egg, in other words, the fertilization process is different and does not affect the child's lifespan.
