Helplessly, I had to embark on a journey of in vitro fertilization at the age of 45.

As the saying goes, 'a long illness leads to a cure'. Indeed, from being unfamiliar and resistant at the beginning, I have gained a lot of knowledge about IVF now. Generally speaking, the process of in vitro fertilization is as follows:

The first step must be done, which is pre inspection.

The man is relatively simple, only needs to test semen, and the woman needs to do more examinations, such as gynecological examination, curettage, laparoscopy, antisperm antibody, liver function and hepatitis B, blood routine analysis, coagulation time and basic endocrine hormone determination. The specific items also depend on personal conditions.

The second step is more important, the ovulation promotion and follicle monitoring stages.

The mid luteal phase, which starts on the 21st day of menstruation, keeps the body's gonadotropins at low levels, and menstruation begins around 8 days after medication.

The third step is to test the hospital's technology: egg retrieval, sperm retrieval, in vitro embryo culture, and transplantation.

After the follicles mature, they can be retrieved through vaginal fornix puncture under ultrasound guidance. Sperm and egg are placed in a special medium to complete fertilization in vitro. After successful fertilization, embryo culture begins.

The fourth step is to transfer the embryo to the uterus.

After 5-6 days of egg retrieval, the embryo develops into a blastocyst. The next step is to determine if you are pregnant. Approximately half a month after transplantation, serum HCG will be measured to determine if I am pregnant.
